Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Waqarud Din Syed while addressing a press conference said that CIA has busted a gang involved in the killing of two police constables, one each in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and two other citizens during dacoties. "The gang had killed constable Ziyad and injured another Constable Arif when the cops attempted to foil their dacoity bid on December 31, 2018 in sector I-8/3," he said.
Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, Waqarud Din Syed assigned task to Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Syed Mustafa Tanveer to arrest the culprits who constituted a special team headed by DSP (CIA) Hakim Khan including Inspector Abdul Ghafoor, Shamas Akbar and some other police officials.
He said that personnel of Falcon Force including constable Muhammad Waseem and Constable Muhammad Arif were on patrolling duty on December 31, 2018 when a citizen called the police helpline, Rescue 15, and told about an armed robbery in progress in a house in Sector I-8/3. In response to the call, the two constables - who were close to the crime scene-were dispatched. When the two reached the house which was being robbed, they came under attack from around four armed robbers. Waseem was shot in the head and died on the spot while other got injured.
He said that police team made all out efforts and arrested the gang involved in murder, dacoity and street crimes. The nabbed gangsters have been identified as Ijaz Khan alias Lala, resident of Afghanistan, Shah Fahad, Ehtasham alias Choochi, Ismail, Ghazi Shah alias Boxer and Shahab Shah alias Akbar.
The SSP said that during initial investigation, they confessed to commit several dacoities in various areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad including at the houses of Chinese nationals and others. They admitted their involvement in murder of the constable in sector I-8/3, a police constable of Rawalpindi police in Pirwadhai, a shopkeeper in the jurisdiction of Khanna police station area and a female in Rawalpindi.
