The Karachi Port handled 145,775 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,856 tonnes of import cargo and 61,919 tonnes of export cargo including 9,586 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 83,856 tonnes comprised of 39,709 tonnes of containerised cargo; 814 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,770 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 5,263 tonnes of rock phosphate and 35,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 61,919 tonnes comprised of 38,073 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,111 tonnes of clinker; 2,535 tonnes of rice and 13,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,586 containers comprising of 5,515 containers import and 4,071 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,418 of 20's and 2,024 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 24 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 610 of 20's and 283 of 40's loaded containers while 597 of 20's and 1,149 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely APL England, Navios Unite, Athenian and Aktea-R carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels viz. Conti Darwin and Lian Hua Song carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 252,713 tonnes comprising 223,205 tonnes of import cargo and 29,508 tonnes of export cargo including 3,390 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 223,205 tonnes includes 17,143 tonnes of diesel oil; 13,000 tonnes of palm oil; 72,800 tonnes of LNG; 10,500 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 64,400 tonnes of coal; 4,343 tonnes of chemical; 3,209 tonnes of palm kernel and 37,810 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 29,508 tonnes includes 2,908 tonnes of rice and 26,600 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,390 containers comprising of 1,990 containers import and 1,400 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely MT Al Huwaila and MT Analipsi Lady carrying LNG and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely CV Tena, CV Maersk Bentoville, MV Elgizhurcebi and MV Gaschem Nordsee carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of thirteen vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, palm kernel, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eighteen vessels viz. CV Navious Unit, MV Reem-3, MV Gao Yu-2, MV Tramno Stanton, MV Pedhoulas Trader, MV IVS Naruo, MV Norcho Sapeake, MV Globe Trotter, MV Li Etta, MV Pacific Activity, MV Baltic Light, MV Frederike Oldendroff, MV Ginga Leopard, MT White Purl, MT Gao Cheng-3, MT Maritime Gisela, MT Bum Shun and MT Horizon respectively carrying containers, bitumen, steel, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three vessels viz. CV Navious Unit, MV Frederike Oldendroff and MV Ginga Leopard carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday

There are two ships namely CV Diyala and CV Nicoline Maersk carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
