Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday directed Director General (DG) National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sindh to ensure appearance of investigation officers (IOs) in the court during the hearing of NAB-related cases.

SHC's Chief Justice (CJ) Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh heading the bench also summoned DG NAB, who appeared in the chamber of CJ SHC and came hard on him for delay in completion of inquiries. Justice Sheikh also showed dissatisfaction over the performance of NAB and said that it takes many years to complete the inquiry and stated that IOs of NAB don't appear in the hearings of various cases related to NAB.

Court gave these observations in the case of a person Naseebullah, who has been charged for sale of government land for co-operative society on fake documents. At the outset of the hearing, court inquired from NAB prosecutor about the IO of the case and said that why didn't he appear in the hearing.

NAB prosecutor sought the time for appearance of IO, however bench head refused to grant the time and directed DG NAB Sindh to appear in the hearing by putting off the hearing of the case for some time.

When the court resumed the hearing, DG NAB Sindh appeared in the chamber of the CJ SHC. Bench directed the DG NAB to arrange trainings for completion of inquiries and investigations in NAB cases.

Court also ordered him to ensure appearance of IOs in the hearing of NAB related cases and put off the hearing of the case for February 11, 2018. Meanwhile, SHC CJ Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh hearing the case of killing of five police personnel in Chakra Goth Karachi directed Inspector General (IG) Sindh to appoint a police office equivalent to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to produce the witnesses with protection in the hearing of the case.

The chief justice stated that if the investigations officers would have working efficiently, IG Sindh would not have been appearing in the hearing. IG Sindh Kalim Imam tendered apology, at which bench asked him to assure the court that witnesses would be appearing in this particular case. Court was hearing the bail application of an accused in killing of Chakra Goth incident, in which five police personnel were killed in 2011. Bench put off the hearing on the bail application till February 20, 2019.
