Talking to the media in Lahore on Saturday, Fawad said the three largest political parties (PTI, PPP and PML-N) needed to reach an agreement on the amendment. "Military courts were established as per the National Action Plan (NAP) to control terrorists. A constitutional amendment is necessary to extend the tenure of military courts," he said. "We will try to establish a nation-wide consensus on issues linked with the country. We can look into recommendations if given by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People's Party on the issue."
Answering a question, Fawad said the target was to collect a sum of Rs 30 billion within a year for the construction of water reservoirs in the country, but around Rs 9 billion had been donated to the dam fund within a span of five months. He expressed optimism to achieve the target saying the country needs more dams.
Commenting on the CTD's action in Sahiwal, Fawad said the alleged terrorists apparently used the family as human shield. "Prime Minister Imran Khan has also called a report over the incident. I contacted CTD and received reply from them. According to initial reports, the suspects are major terrorist," said Fawad. He asserted that the Punjab government would elucidate the matter as soon as details surface.
About resignation of Ammar Yasir from the slot of Punjab minister, he said the PML-Q had supported the PTI and the issue would be resolved. "PTI and the PML-Q are not one party, we will address the latter's reservations soon. We regularly meet Chaudhry brothers, no coalition partner is leaving the government," he said.
