PRA Chairman Javeed Ahmed, Punjab Finance Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh and other officials concerned were present in the meeting.
On the occasion, the minister instructed the Authority to create an environment conducive for taxpayers.
"Use of drone technology was proving helpful in identifying potential taxpayers and evaders. The PRA is in close liaison with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for various tax matters between the province and federal government," he added.
According to him, a single portal for taxation will be functional by the end of April; however, electronic invoice monitoring system was already available as an option on GST on services. The PRA is moving towards e-proceedings and it is performing well despite all the challenges faced by the economy.
On the occasion, the PRA chairman briefed the meeting that despite the downfall in taxes due to suspension of GST on mobile services by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the tax collection has increased by 22 percent which was encouraging.
"The drone technology has helped the PRA to identify 22 new warehouses which were not registered with the Authority," he added. The minister was also briefed about the shortage of human resource and court cases faced by the PRA which in his opinion was impeding the growth of tax collection and thus facing difficulty in meeting the revenue targets fixed by the government.
For hiring of manpower, the minister asked the PRA to streamline the contract policy and also instructed them to follow the merit policy.
He also instructed them to consult the legal experts to resolve legal issues in the court amicably and swiftly.
