The Karachi Port handled 116,952 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,336 tonnes of import cargo and 50,616 tonnes of export cargo including 8,647 containers of import and export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 66,336 tonnes comprised of 39,404 tonnes of containerised cargo; 24 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,460 tonnes of Soya bean seeds and 24,448 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 45,067 tonnes comprised of 18,286 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,526 tonnes of clinker and 3,023 tonnes of rice cargo.

As many as 8,647 containers comprising of 3,118 containers import and 5,529 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 816 of 20's and 1,091 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 60 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,164 of 20's and 574 of 40's loaded containers while 1,041 of 20's and 1,088 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely UACC Shams, M.T. Quetta, Allise P, Hakone Galaxy, and Kota Kaya carrying containers and tankers sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. Kota Kaya, Al Mahboobah, Lila, M.T. Karachi, Serene Juniper, Xin Hong Kong, Polo and Mol Gateway carrying containers, tanker and clinkers currently at the berths.
