President Dr Arif Alvi has called for necessitating need to preserve the national heritage of archaeological value for promotion of tourism activities. These remarks were made by the President during the hearing of representation against the recommendation of Wafaqi Mohtasib at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad.

The President directed Pakistan Railways to conduct an inquiry regarding stolen items from the historic building belonging to Pakistan Railways near Railway Crossing, Lalazar Colony, Jhelum which was once a "Dak/Police Choki" in Sher Shah Suri era. He further directed Pakistan Railways to install a safety gate to safeguard the particular building and to keep a regular watch on this historical site, says a press release issued here.

He also directed the National History and Heritage Division to submit a comprehensive report containing essential details along-side remedial measures to protect this archaeological site. -PR
