Sharing details, the KW&SB officials said over 100 houses have been illegally constructed on 17 acre area of land and the board has initiated drive to recover the same. The operation teams razed to ground 10 houses and a hotel on the first day of the operation, however, unknown men offered resistance with pelting stones, breaking wind panes of various vehicles, forcing the authorities to suspend the operation. The drive will resume in a couple of days.
Aided by police and rangers, the raid was conducted by security and enforcement department and KD Civil officials and supervised by Executive Engineer KD Civil Imran Abdullah and Director Enforcement and Chief Security Officer Tabish Raza.
On January 10, the water utility served over 400 notices to deferent individuals and parties for vacating the boards properties such as shops and concrete structures illegally built on the board's land, sewerage lines, around its water installations, reservoirs, siphons etc. with immediate effect.
The board's Managing Director Asadullah Khan had asked all the departmental heads to follow the court orders with letter and spirit, and contribute their role to vacate the encroached land with fulfilling all legal formalities.
