Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that 10 to 12 bills of public nature would soon be introduced in the Lower House of Parliament. He expressed these views while talking to the members of National Assembly from Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sahiwal Divisions who called on him here at Parliament House on Tuesday.

"We all have to work together in order to confront the challenges being faced by the country at present. The members of the House should enhance contacts with the public of their constituencies in order to resolve their problems," he said.

The matters pertaining to legislation, public issues, and current economic and political situation in the country were discussed in the meeting. Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak, Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan and Chief Whip Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar were also present in the meeting.

Talking to the members, Qaiser said that the Parliament represents the will of people whereas problems of masses can be addressed by strengthening it. He said that the people have sent them to the House to resolve their problems so it should be foremost priority of the government. He further said that difficulties faced by people can be addressed through legislation.

He said that there is collective responsibility of all members of the House to maintain the sanctity of Parliament and to run its proceedings smoothly. He urged upon the members to actively participate in the legislative process and question hours as well as highlight public issues through calling attention notices and adjournment motions.

Stressing upon the members to ensure their presence and take part in the proceedings of the House actively, he said that maintaining dignity of the House and running its proceedings amicably is the collective responsibility of all the members of the House.

The members thanked the speaker and appreciated his neutral role and assured their all-out support in legislation. They said that public has a lot of expectations from the incumbent Parliament and "we have to work hard to come up to their expectations."

They said that ensuring attendance in the House and taking active part in its proceeding is the prime responsibility of each member. They also informed the speaker about the issues of their constituencies. Qaiser assured them his utmost support in resolving the problems being faced by their constituents.

The meeting was attended by MNAs including Syed Faiz Ul Hassan, Chaudhry Shaukat Ali Bhatti, Brigadier Rahat Amanullah Bhatti (retd), Muhammad Farooq Azam Malik, Muhammad Abdul Ghafar Wattoo, Rai Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal and Sardar Talib Hussain Nakai.
