How unfortunate it is that the nation would be witnessing the presentation of a "mini-budget" less than six months prior to the conclusion of the current fiscal or budgetary year 2018-19. According to the PTI government, it has been left with no other option but to introduce a new money bill in the parliament with a view to correcting some of the wrongs committed by its predecessor government of PML-N. It has repeatedly claimed that the PML-N bequeathed to it a devastated economy. The PML-N or opposition, however, accuse the PTI government of failing to deliver on any of its promises that it had made prior to the general elections last year. It also holds the incumbent government responsible for adding to country's economic woes.

This blame-game will continue. There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. Not only is the country facing an economic slowdown, it is also experiencing unprecedented burden of domestic and external debts. Not one but all successive governments since 2008 in particular must share the blame of sacrificing country's economy at the altar of political expediency, incompetence and lack of political will.
