The Karachi Port handled 195,906 tonnes of cargo comprising 140,214 tonnes of import cargo and 55,692 tonnes of export cargo including 4,102 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 140,214 tonnes comprised of 54,431 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,448 tonnes of bulk cargo; 168 tonnes of canola, 18,912 tonnes of Soya Bean Seeds and 60,247 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 55,692 tonnes comprised of 38,188 tonnes of containerised cargo and 17,504 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 4,102 containers comprising of 2,049 containers import and 2,053 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 796 of 20's and 573 of 40's loaded while 21 of 20's and 43 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 586 of 20's and 229 of 40's loaded containers while 179 of 20's and 415 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Tabernacle Prince, MSC ELSA 3, Aramis, Chilopalbrok Pacific, Hyundi Vancouver, UACC Shams and M.T. Quetta carrying containers, general cargo, tanker and cement respectively arrived and berthed at Karachi Port.

There were eight vessels viz. East Bangkok, Northern Dedication, Xin Fei Zhou, Madredeus, MSC ELSA 3, Cardonia, LilacVictoria and Aramis carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 127,356 tonnes comprising 94,106 tonnes of import cargo and 33,250 tonnes of export cargo including 1,863 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) , 113 TEUs imports and 1,750 TEUs exports was handled at Port during the last 24 hours.

The total import cargo of 94,106 tonnes includes 2,147 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,300 tonnes of chemical; 5,791 tonnes of palm oil; 70,797 tonnes of coal 1,417 tonnes of LPG Mix and 10,654 tonnes of soya been seeds.

The total export cargo of 33,250 tonnes includes 33,250 tonnes of containerised cargo.

There were two ships namely Bunga Algmonda and Gas Amazon carrying palm oil and LPG mix were allotted berth at Liquid Cargo Terminal and SSGC Terminal respectively on Sunday 13th January 2019. Meanwhile one more ship Bulk Pagusus carrying coal also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

As many as ten ships namely GNG Concord, Baita, Vita Ocean, Sic, Globe Trotter, Ufta, Alcrd, Pacific Active, Mclima Venesa and Bulk Panama carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Total three ships Caspian Gas, Bulk Pagasus and Lila carrying chemical coal are expected to take berths at EVTL and PIBT respectively on Monday 14th January 2019.
