Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Shahbaz Sharif Monday thanked Allah Almighty over the Supreme Court's verdict that rejected the appeal filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) challenging the Islamabad High Court decision to grant bail to Sharif family members in the Avenfield reference case.

While talking to media persons in a corridor of the Parliament House, Shehbaz Sharif said, "We also hope to get justice in Al-Azizia reference." He said that there should be rule of law in the country.

Answering a question, he said that his party would consider supporting an extension in military courts if approached by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. He said that terrorism in the country reduced due to establishment of military courts.

He said that former regime of Nawaz Sharif had decided to establish military courts in the country. He said that terrorism in the county reduced due to military courts, Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. He said that deterrence has been increased due to establishment of military courts.

He said that Islamabad High Court will hear former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's appeal against the sentence awarded to him in Al-Azizia reference case. "We hope for justice from Islamabad High Court," he said. A two-member bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani will hear Nawaz's petition.

Earlier, the apex court had dismissed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)'s appeal against the suspension of the jail sentences of Sharif and his family in the Avenfield corruption case. In July 2018, an accountability court in Islamabad awarded Sharif 10 years in jail for owning assets beyond known income and 1 year for not cooperating with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
