A three-day capacity building workshop for police officers regarding gender-based crimes was started at Police Lines Qilla Gujjar Singh on Monday.

Headed by Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Syed Karrar Hussain, the workshop titled "Gender Sensitivity Training" will particularly focus on the capacity building of Sub Inspectors and Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs) working in all investigation wings.

Former Additional IG Sarmad Saeed Khan and Legal Advisor of the Punjab Commission for the Status of Women (PCSW) delivered lectures to the participants regarding the laws pertaining to sexual abuse of women, rape, "Karo Kari" and harassment along with the methods of investigations relating to these crimes.

An official said around 30 male and 10 lady cops took part in the workshop on the first day. He added that the workshop was started on the direction of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore BA Nasir Khan with an aim to create awareness among cops regarding gender-based crimes besides devising a strategy to deal with such kind of heinous crimes.
