Former skipper of the Pakistan women cricket team Sana Mir, who remained one of the top-ranked bowlers in the year 2018, has called for bringing improvement in the Pakistan women cricket set up. "Pakistan women cricket set up in the country needs to be strengthened and it must be at the same level as was prevalent in Australia, England and India," she said, in an interview.

Sana Mir said that she had to wait a long time to reach the top of the ICC ranking. "If the cricket structure in the country is at par with other countries, other women cricketers would not have to wait 13 years like me to reach the top of the rankings," she said. She said she feel honored after named in the ICC Women's ODI Team of the Year and finishing the year 2018 as the top-ranked bowler.

When asked about retirement, Sana Mir said that it was a difficult question. "I think about this [retirement] a lot but I also want to continue playing for Pakistan. I will continue to play till the team needs me."
