The Karachi Port handled 168,112 tonnes of cargo comprising 136,186 tonnes of import cargo and 31,926 tonnes of export cargo including 7,775 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 136,186 tonnes comprised of 60,383 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,459 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,591 tonnes of DAP; 1,891 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 57,862 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 31,926 tonnes comprised of 25,795 tonnes of containerised cargo; 931 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,400 tonnes of clinkers and 2800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,775 containers comprising of 4,457 containers import and 3,318 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,619 of 20's and 1,383 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 36 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 754 of 20's and 190 40's loaded containers while 534 20's and 825 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely CMA CGM Racine, Alina, Bashundhara-8 and Izumo carrying containers, clinkers and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Cosco Hong Kong, Navios Galileo, MT Karachi, Xin Fu Zhou, Izumo and Krania carrying containers, Soaybean meal, tanker, general cargo and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 132,531 tonnes comprising 118,281 tonnes of import cargo and 14,250 tonnes of export cargo including 2,111 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 118,281 tonnes includes 3,500 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,770 tonnes of palm oil; 40,760 tonnes of coal; 3,579 tonnes of chemicals; 1,483 tonnes of LPG; 6,980 tonnes of soyabean seed; 50 tonnes of project cargo and 68,159 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 14,250 tonnes includes 000 tonnes of Talcum powder and 14,250 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 2,111 containers comprising 1,361 containers import and 750 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely Gas Esco carrying LPG sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning and three ships namely CL Belle, Maersk Hartford, and YM Miranda carrying containers and chemical are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, project cargo, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen ships namely MOL Germany, Tiger Shanxi, Port Canton SSI Triumph, Venture Dylan, Navios Sale, Sitc Zong Shan, GNG Concord, John M Cargas, AL-Huwaila, Maria-II, NCC Amal, Rita-M and UACC Ibn Sina carrying containers, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Tiger Shanxi, Maria-II, Gaschem Pasific and Al-Huwaila containers, coal, LPG and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are three ships namely MSC Mirella, APL Antwarp and GH Chinook carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
