Punjab Information and Culture Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan and Alhamra Arts Council Executive Director Ather Ali Khan on Wednesday distributed cheques among the deserving artists. While talking to media, the minister said that the PTI's government takes pride in distributing these cheques for the welfare of artists from financial effort called "Artist Support Fund".

"In simple terms, it is the deserving stipend for the forgotten masters in their domains who have served and enlightened the cultural image in their respective fields. This practice will give financial assistance to all those people who have their roots in art and culture," he added. He also said that today's distribution will cover 27 artists. The Punjab government is committed to providing all out support to the artist community.

According to him, Punjab is rich in culture and it is sanguine that the artists are fully committed to serving the art and culture. To provide healthcare to 6000 artists and their families, the government is going to launch healthcare card for them; they will enjoy best healthcare facilities, he added.
