The Authority is fully active and energetic to ensure the implementation of new regulations with the start of New Year 2019, said PFA Director General Captain Muhammad Usman (R). He said teams inspected 141 food points in Lahore Zone, 109 sites in Rawalpindi and 129 in South Punjab out of 379. The teams also warned 144 food outlets, asking them to improve hygienic condition.
Usman said as many as 101 food points were found up to the mark during visiting the sites. DG has appreciated the cooperation of the spice industry that is supporting the motive and objective of the authority for the elimination of food adulteration, especially in spices. He informed that PFA had introduced the regulation in 2017 regarding the sale of loose spices banned in Punjab. Muhammad Usman further said the purpose of this initiative was to control the contamination of adulterated ingredients in spices because of tainted spices cause of bowel and stomach cancer along with other diseases. He directed spice manufactures to follow the instructions of the provincial food regulatory body, otherwise strict action would be taken against responsible.
