The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has clarified that the project for construction of wastewater treatment plants and surface water treatment plants with allied works including improvements of water distribution network and construction of sewerage carriers are being pursued by WASA and the Punjab government vigorously.

The projects which are to be finalized by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) are on track and it is expected that the signing of loan followed by project commencement will take place in current calendar year 2019. It may be noted that it was reported in a section of media, including Business Recorder on December 27, that WASA has scrapped a Rs 40 billion agreement with AIIB for wastewater treatment plant.-PR
