The Minister said that the expansion of e-Rozgaar in all colleges of the province was actively being finalized with the Higher Education Department of the Punjab as this project contributed significantly to the national economy and provided the jobless graduates chance to become job providers and not job seekers.
He further stated that e-Rozgaar project was in line with the present government's agenda to bring the youth in the forefront for their better future and to transform their weaknesses into strength for the progress of Pakistan.
Vice Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmed Khalid said that e-Rozgaar program has empowered students and jobless graduates to make their earnings through freelancing by using their skills full potential. So far 48000 have graduated from UET Lahore since its inception and in 2021 it would mark century celebrations while UET has crawled up to 171st position from 250th in the annual QSA ranking.
Addressing the ceremony DG- e Governance PITB, Sajid Latif stated that PITB planned to complete 40 e-Rozgaar centers by next year, including four centers dedicated for female. e-Rozgaar centers were bridging the gap between the unemployment and employment in a country like Pakistan where 500,000 to 600,000 students were graduating per annum; only 50,000 could get the job, he added.
He informed that Pakistan being the third freelancing country in the world is 5th largest populated country in the world with 60 % of the population comprising on youth has potential to contribute technical, non-technical and creative assignments. There was a need to introduce PayPal system to facilitate freelancers to get their remittances, he said.
The trainees at UET Center generated Rupees 44 lac during online training while since the inception of the project so far foreign exchange equivalent to more than Rupees 7 crores have been generated across Punjab through this exemplary Program by PITB.
