Minister of State for Communications Murad Saeed Wednesday launched a mobile phone application 'Hamsafar' to facilitate the road users on national highways and motorways. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government is working to depoliticise and improve the working of state institutions for better governance.

The minister said a pilot project will be started soon to test the construction of safe and better roads for safety of passengers and road users.

On the occasion, Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police AD Khawaja said time has come to adopt the latest technology.

He said that the NH&MP's mobile app 'Hamsafar' is an intelligent interface for assistance that will enable users to acquire instant information on road situation, weather condition, fog, rain and traffic volume, besides they can seek help in time of distress.

The minister also sought cooperation of the government officials and general public for implementation of the government's policies.

The Motorway Police have achieved the objectives given by the government and are maintaining such high standards of policing through courtesy and strict enforcement of law. He lauded the efforts of the Motorway Police for providing instant road situation updates to commuters.

He added that the National Highways and Motorway Police are reckoned among the best institutions of Pakistan. He further added that the NH&MP are striving hard to provide facilities to road users by effective utilisationn of cutting-edge technology. A brief overview of smart phone app 'Hamsafar' was given by the AIG (Operations).
