Judge Amir Aziz while granting remand inquired from the FIA official if they had conducted an inquiry. He responded that the accused did not surrender himself and a lot of things are required to be investigated. The senior civil judge further asked if this was the first request for Masood's remand and the FIA official replied in the affirmative.
During the hearing, Advocate Shah Khawar, representing the anchorperson, opposed a long remand of his client. "Twenty-four hours remand is enough and more than that should not be given," he said. The judge after hearing both the parties granted five-day physical remand of Dr Shahid to the FIA.
According to the prosecution, Dr Masood had signed an agreement with a fake company to negotiate with the Pakistan Cricket Board for grant of rights to the PTV for coverage of cricket matches played in Pakistan. Because of the agreement, the PTV had to face heavy losses.
Dr Shahid was arrested by the FIA Friday from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises after his plea was dismissed by a single bench of IHC comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani.
