Sindh Excise and Taxation department has witnessed 16 percent growth in tax recovery as around Rs. 24.42 billion has been recovered during July-October period as compared to Rs.20.318 billion collected during last corresponding period. This was disclosed by Director General Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh during meeting headed by Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla in his office here.

Furthermore, he said that Rs. 2.43 billion was recovered as motor vehicle tax, Rs. 18.84 billion as infrastructure cess and Rs. 11.44 billion was collected under the head of property tax. The participants of the meeting were also apprised that Rs.180.499 million was recovered in professional tax, Rs. 68.821million under Cotton Fee and Rs. 24.092 million as Entertainment Duty.

Meanwhile, provincial minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla while expressing satisfactory remarks announced to launch next road checking campaign against tax defaulting vehicles in January.

Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Abdul Rahim Shaikh, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers attended the meeting.
