  • Comments Off on Zainab case: JIT finds no truth in TV anchor’s allegations
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that there is no truth in allegations leveled by a TV anchor. He had claimed that the killer of 8-year-old minor Zainab had links with a global pornography gang. Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on January 29, 2018 had constituted a three-member inquiry committee, headed by Director General FIA Bashir Memon and comprising Joint Director Intelligence Bureau (IB) Anwar Ali and Assistant Inspector General (Operation Division) Islamabad Police Asmatullah Junejo to find out truth and determine veracity of allegations of anchor Dr Shahid Masood.

It was directed that the committee, after recording the statement of Dr Shahid Masood, considering the material he desired to produce in support of his claim during the inquiry and collecting any other relevant material available from other quarters will submit its report within a period of 30 days. The committee will check the veracity of allegations and give a clear finding whether those allegations were correct or otherwise.

Submitting its report in the apex court, the inquiry committee said: "Virtually every single claim made by Dr Shahid Masood has no sound basis. There was no conspiracy to declare Imran Ali, murderer of little Zainab, as mentally ill or mad and there was never any threat to his life from any influential person."

On the contrary, extraordinary measures were taken to ensure that Imran Ali is not caused any harm and that his fate is decided by no other than the court through a judicial process. The report said that the authorities found no evidence that Imran Ali is declared as mentally retarded. Imran acted alone and there was no part of any mafia involved in the rape and murder of Zainab.

The report said that no evidence was produced about Imran's bank accounts nationally and internationally. No proof was brought on record that Imran Ali was pressurized by any federal minister. Neither anything had been provided regarding violent child/crime pornography in Kasur nor was any evidence produced that any gang was involved in violent child/crime pornography in Pakistan. There was also no evidence that Imran Ali took minor girl's picture before committing her rape and murder, the report added.
