A Karachi-based under-19 cricketer committed suicide on Tuesday after he was dropped from the under-19 team due to overage than the set criterion. Former international cricketer Amir Hanif told the media his son Mohammad Zaryab had committed suicide as he was under a lot of distress and pressure. He said his son hanged himself at their residence in Model Colony.

The young opening player was a grade-11 student and had played for Karachi under-19 before. Hanif said his son was also disappointed with the attitude of the coaches.
