The NAB has decided to file a reference against former Federal Minister for Communications and Pakistan Railways Lieutenant-General Javed Ashraf Qazi (retd), former chairman and Secretary Railways Lieutenant-General Saeedul Zafar (retd); former General Manager M&S Pakistan Railways, Major General Hamid Hassan Butt (retd), former General Manager Operations Railways Iqbal Samad Khan, former member Finance Railways Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Director M/s Husnan Construction Company, CEO Uniqon Consultant Services Pervaiz Latif Qureshi, Director Mix Corp Datu Muhammad Kasa bin Ada Aziz, Development Malaysia and others which incurred Rs 2 billion losses to the national exchequer.
The NAB decided to file a reference against former chairman WAPDA Tariq Hameed, former member Power WAPDA Muhammad Anwar Khalid, former member Water WAPDA Muhammad Mushtaq, former member Finance WAPDA Imtiaz Anjum and others.
They were allegedly involved in violation of decisions and rules of NEPRA, PPRA and ECC by awarding contract of 150MW rental power project to M/s General Electric Energy (Pvt), 'causing billions of rupee losses to the national exchequer'.
The NAB has decided to look into a complaint filed against State Minister for Health Services Saira Afzal Tarrar and President Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), for their alleged involvement in approving alliance of 12 medical colleges.
The investigation against former Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Farkhand Iqbal, former member Estate CDA Khalid Mahmood Mirza, former member Finance CDA Javed Jahangir and others have also been initiated. They were allegedly involved in allotting commercial plots of CDA on throwaway prices and allegedly caused Rs 494.333 million loss to the national kitty.
The Executive Board NAB also gave green signal to two separate investigations against former provincial Minister Sindh Abdul Rauf Saddique, Muhammad Adil Saddique, Dr Sarwat Faheem, Mushtaq Ali Laghari, Mehmood Ahmed, Ghulam Nabi Maher, Abdul Hayee Dhamra, Syed Imdad Ali Shah, Syed Umeed Ali Shah and others.
They were accused of embezzlements in the government funds, illegal appointments in the Sindh Small Industry Corporation and illegal allotments of the government lands which allegedly caused Rs 435.4 million losses to the national exchequer. The NAB will also investigate former Nazim Peshawar Tamash Khan whose assets are allegedly beyond his income which he declared annually. The NAB will also probe allegations against Provincial Minister Health Rahmat Baloch and others for misuse of authority and assets beyond means.
The NAB also decided to initiate an inquiry against former directors general of Peshawar Development Authority (PDA). They are Sahebzada Saeed Ahmed, Syed Zahir Shah, Sareer Muhammad. Former General Manager PDA Muhammad Tariq, former Director PDA Abdul Haleem Paracha and others will also be interrogated. They are allegedly involved in allotting additional land while allotting the government plots in violation of government rules and regulations which caused losses of Rs 75.27 million.
The NAB board also referred back the cases against the PASCO management and others to relevant departments for appropriate actions. The investigations against former Director Program Distance Education Bahawal-din Zakria University Multan, Dr Muhammad Ishaq Fahni and officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organization were closed due to non availability of evidence.
