The Excise Department has handed over data of 400,000 defaulters of token tax to the safe city officials. One officer of the department said the objective of handing over data is to locate the frequent presence of these defaulters on roads. Once located, he added, the department would hold pickets on these roads to intercept vehicles for recovery of millions of rupees token tax from vehicle owners.

It may be noted that the department checks vehicles with unspecified number plates on different roads. Now, it has decided to conduct a grand operation against the defaulters with the help of safe city department.
