Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said that the Fata's is a very simple issue but some opportunists have complicated it. "We are sitting in the National Assembly. We know very well about opportunists," he said, addressing a 'Namoos-e-Risalat' conference, here Peshawar on Sunday.

Federal Minister Akram Khan Durrani, provincial JUI-F chief, Maulana Gul Naseeb, other provincial leaders, a large number of students of religious seminaries, religious scholars and workers attended the conference. Fazl said that the tribal people should be consulted about the future status of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), whether they want merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or demand separate province.

He said the court jurisdiction could not be extended to Fata due to imposition of Frontier Crime Regulation Act and Article 247 of the constitution in the tribal region. He said the article 247 and FCR would remain imposed till next five years in Fata.

About the changes in the clause relating to the 'finality of Prophethood' in the elections bill, Fazl blamed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan People's Party had opposed the amendments correction in the 'Khatam-e-Nabuwat' law. He said the law was changed on pretext of bringing elections reforms. Later, he said, the decision was reversed within 48-hours.

He said it was good news that Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), an alliance of religious parties, had been restored. He said MMA had fought against internal and external challenges in 2002. He said it was dire need of hours to revive the MMA because due to absence of MMA in 2008 and 2013, the secular people had occupied the country. He said that the people calling themselves as enlightened had attempted to change the culture of Pakistan. He alleged that the western forces enjoyed support of a party to change the culture of the country. He vowed he would free the KP province from occupation of the said party (PTI). He said the party had tried to buy clerics. However, he asserted Ulema were not greedy that they offer themselves for sell-out.

JUI-F chief demanded a high-level inquiry into the December 2014 terrorist attack on Army Public School Peshawar. He said that the terrorists should be brought to book. He said the parents of the martyred students of APS Peshawar also demanded a high-level inquiry, which must be accepted.

He lamented that no investigation was initiated against the horrific incident. He said the parents of martyred students were immensely perturbed. JUI-F chief said that Islam was not safe because since the 9/11 incident, religious seminaries were being considered as terrorists' safe-heaven and breaded and turbaned people are also called terrorists.

Fazl also lambasted Israel saying this state has no geographical boundary. He praised the Islamic countries for their befitting response to the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital by US President Donald Trump.
