Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Dr Arif Alvi Wednesday wrote a letter to chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) - the top parliamentary watchdog - to take up Rs 400 billion alleged corruption in different projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In a letter addressed to PAC Chairman Khursheed Shah, Alvi who is also a member of PAC, called upon him to immediately convene a meeting of the committee and initiate a probe into alleged corruption worth billions of rupees in projects of National Highway Authority (NHA) initiated under the CPEC projects.

Without elaborating corruption, he said the authentic sources within the NHA have disclosed that massive irregularities are taking place in the projects assigned to the NHA under CPEC projects, which need to be investigated. He also said the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) had also pointed out massive irregularities to the tune of Rs 470 billion in 52 projects, being undertaken by the NHA, which should be investigated as the NHA is notorious for corruption.
