The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) has successfully conducted the elections for the ICAP Council and Regional Committees (Northern and Southern) on July 29, 2017. ICAP is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants (CA) Ordinance, 1961 to regulate the profession of accountancy in Pakistan.

Council is the governing body responsible for managing the affairs of ICAP. Elections of ICAP are held after every four years under the supervision of an Election Committee which is constituted under the provisions of the CA Bye-Laws, 1983 and is independent of the Council of ICAP. Members of ICAP actively participated in the voting process at the recently held Elections including a significant number of voters from abroad who casted their votes through electronic voting.

Ashfaq Yousuf Tola, Farrukh Rehman, Hina Usmani, Iftikhar Taj, Jafar Husain, Khalid Rahman, Khalilullah Shaikh, Muhammad Ali Latif, Muhammad Awais, M Sharif Tabani, Rana Muhammad Usman Khan, Riaz A Rehman Chamdia, Saifullah and Syed Najmul Hussain declared elected by the Election Committee of the Institute in the ICAP Council.

Abdul Rab, Arslan Khalid, Husnain Raza Badami, Mohammad Zulfikar Akhtar, Noureen Al Amin and Syed Muhammad Adnan Rizvi elected for ICAP Southern Regional Committee whereas Ali Saif Cheema, Asad Feroze, Farooq Hameed, Jehan Zeb Amin, Rafqat Hussain and Shahid Iqbal elected for ICAP Northern Regional Committee for the term 2017-2021.

It is pertinent to mention that for the first time in ICAP's history two female members have been elected, Hina Usmani elected to the Council and Noureen Al Amin elected to the Southern Regional Committee. The members of the Institute appreciated the efforts of the management for smoothly conducting the election process at all centers.-PR
