The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is planning to expand development work in the capital by opening new sectors and resuming stalled uplift work in other sectors. The decision comes as the civic agency battles to cope with the growing demand for housing in Islamabad coupled with several housing societies mushrooming in the capital.

The CDA officials held a high-level meeting over the issue which was chaired by Mayor Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) Sheikh Ansar Aziz. Aziz also holds the additionaal charge of the chairman CDA In the meeting, the mayor directed all departments concerned to take consolidated steps to remove all hurdles in the development of sectors E-12 and C-15 as well as Park Enclave.

A forceful operation has already been launched in the capital in collaboration with the Islamabad district administration to recover CDA land from encroachers. Development of sectors C-15 and E-12 and Park Enclave is among top priorities, the mayor said. The authority is trying to improve and make transparent procedures relating to paying compensation and policies on allotting plots against constructed properties. Due to corruption in CDA and illegal allotment of land as recently pointed out in an audit report of the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), record of land and estate departments has been sealed to determine irregularities in allotment of land.
