The Met Office has asked the farmers of Southern Punjab and Sindh to start preparing land to sow the next cotton crop on time in a bid to produce a better yield. In a 10-day advisory ending on May 10, it said that a light to moderate rainfall is expected in many parts of all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir over the period.

It however alerted farmers to sandstorm that is expected to strike areas of matured wheat crop, saying that growers should take steps accordingly to safeguard grains and residue after harvesting. Wheat crop is at heading-maturity stages in of upper half of the country, it said, asking the growers to schedule their harvesting keeping in view the weather conditions ahead.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected in upper parts of Punjab, isolated places in Sindh from May 6 to 8, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. In the next 24 hours: The Met Office forecast mainly hot and dry weather for the most parts of the country with dust-thunderstorm/rain and gusty winds at a few places in Malakand and Hazara Divisions, Upper FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. "A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist during next 24 hours," it said that Shaheed Benazirabad and Dadu were the most hottest places in the country with 44 degree Celsius, each, Sukkur, Turbat, Padidan, Rahim Yar Khan and Jacobabad 43, each, Moenjo Daro, Larkana, Sibbi, Hyderabad, Chhor and Lasbella 42, each, in the last 24 hours.
