"Quacksalvers" who misguide people in the name of journalism constitute threat to this profession, says chairman Pemra Absar Alam while talking in a talk show 'Faisla Aap Ka' at Aaj TV. "Who speaks truth we make horrible metaphor of him," he said, adding that in the past journalism was all about truth but it is now "journalism of allegations".

He said, "journalist Hayatullah was the first who reported about American drone strikes and he was murdered because he was telling the truth". "I left journalism and accepted the designation of chairman of Pemra," he added. He said Pemra cannot charge fines above Rs 1,000,000. "We have a law and TV channels' owners must sign the agreements when they get their licence," he said. Serving as chairman of Pemra a challenge, says Absar Alam.
