The committee was informed that around Rs 190 million were given in advance for the rehabilitation of people affected at the LoC by the Indian forces' firing in 1998. The secretary Gilgit-Baltistan informed the committee that the amount was released to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Audit official informed the committee that the adjustment of 70 per cent of the rehabilitation amount could not be adjusted after 18 years.
The committee expressed displeasure over non-compliance with the PAC's directives. The PAC had directed to hold an inquiry into the matter four years back. Member Committee Mian Manan argued that the matter remains unresolved even after passage of 18 years. While discussing another issue, the audit officials said that the government of Punjab mutated title of land illegally, which was owned by the government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK). The government of the Punjab did not clear the payment of 76 kanals of land to the AJK government. In its ruling, the sub-committee directed the Punjab government to make payment of land based on current market price. In case of non-payment, the land should be got vacated from the government of Punjab.
