In the wake of recent escalation of tension between Pakistan and India, the upper house of parliament on Thursday said that it would provide policy guidelines to government for adopting a robust strategy towards India. The hostile attitude of India towards Pakistan came under discussion in an in-camera meeting of Senate Committee of the Whole House chaired by chairman Senate Raza Rabbani.

The committee was briefed by Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Secretary Defence and other top government officials about the preparedness of the country to give a befitting response to India so that it could understand that it is not easy to confront with a country like Pakistan. A statement issued after the meeting stated that the committee took serious note of grave human rights violations in the Indian occupied Kashmir and recent incidents on Line of Control (LoC) violations committed by India. Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Secretary Defence and Sartaj Aziz, also briefed the parliamentary group leaders of the political parties in Senate at the meeting.
