A meeting of the Governing Body, Employees Social Security Institute (ESSI), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chaired by Provincial Minister for Labour and Mineral Development, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli has approved a budget of Rs 670 million for the ESSI for the year of 2016-17.

Besides, Secretary, Labour, Syed Alamgir Shah; Director General (DG) ESSI, Anwar Khan, members of Governing Body ESSI and representatives of the departments of health and finance also attended the meeting. The governing body also approved the construction of the head office of ESSI on the land acquired for the purpose in Hayatabad and also directed action against all those industrial units which are defaulter in head of ESSI contribution.

Provincial Minister Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli directed the evolving of a comprehensive procedure for the recovery of the outstanding arrears from the defaulters' industrial units and granting of maximum incentives to field officers of the Social Security to ensure the recovery of the arrears as soon as possible. She further directed the preparation of feasibility report for the up-gradation of the Medical Unit of ESSI at Hattar and presentation of working papers in upcoming meeting of the governing body in this regard. The minister for Labour and Mineral Development said that the ESSI is effectively working for the provision of medical facilities to workers and more steps would be taken for its further improvement.
