Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday concluded his two-day state visit to Pakistan after finalising various agreements related to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and other energy projects worth $46 billion. The Chinese President and the First Lady were seen off by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his wife Begum Kalsoom Sharif at the Nur Khan Air Base.

Soon after take-off, a formation of JF-17 Thunder aircraft escorted the special plane of Chinese President up to the end of Pakistan's airspace. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, the services chiefs, cabinet ministers and China's ambassador to Pakistan also bid adieu to the Chinese President and his entourage. During his stay, President Xi Jinping met President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, leaders of the Senate, the National Assembly, the armed forces and political parties of Pakistan; and also engaged with people from a wide spectrum of society.

The Chinese President was accompanied by a high-power delegation and 51 agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on co-operation in energy, road, infrastructure and other areas were signed during his visit. The signing ceremony by relevant ministers was witnessed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who also jointly performed ground-breaking of Karot 720 MW Hydropower project, Dawood 50 MW Wind-power project, Sachal 50 MW Wind-power project, Zonergy 900 MW solar project and Jhimpir 100 MW Wind-power project via a video link.

The Chinese President also addressed the joint sitting of the Parliament on Tuesday and vowed to stand by Pakistan in its endeavor to achieve the great objective of socio economic development and prosperity. Earlier, a joint statement on "Establishing the All-Weather Strategic Co-operative Partnership" was issued, which stated that the Chinese side reiterated that China has always placed its relationship with Pakistan on a priority position in its foreign policy agenda.

China also appreciated Pakistan's consistent and staunch support on issues concerning China's core interests, besides reaffirming its support and solidarity for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Pakistan. Pakistan's efforts for the peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues with its neighbours were also appreciated. It noted that the friendship and co-operation between Pakistan and China serve the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples, and contribute to peace, stability and development in the region and beyond. President Xi was also given top civil award "Nishan-e-Pakistan". President Mamnoon Hussain conferred the award upon him at a special ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr. President Mamnoon Hussain also hosted luncheon in honour of the Chinese president and his delegation.
