It is learnt on Wednesday that the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pral Imtiaz Ahmed Khan promptly responded to 15-page objections raised by FBR Member IT on the functioning and performance of Pral. In this regard, the former CEO Pral has submitted a detailed response to the Chairman FBR. However, during the last meeting of the Pral board of directors, FBR Member IT has been given additional charge without acknowledging the fact that Imtiaz Ahmed Khan was doing an excellent job in a professional manner. Interestingly, the board of directors meeting has not gone through the detailed response of the CEO Pral and taken away the acting CEO Pral slot from Imtiaz Ahmed Khan.
According to a senior tax official, additional charge of CEO Pral to the FBR Member IT is a temporary position, depending on the performance of the member IT. As per written response of the Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, former CEO Pral said that the recruitment is made on merit and by following the company rules and salary is fixed commensurate to their qualification, experience and competency and specialisation. Promotions in the company are made based on performance and competency like private limited companies. Moreover, there is no bar under the company rules for working two relatives in the company and neither any bar on inter-marriages of Pral employees. Most of the information produced in the report of the Member IT is baseless and even employees have raised serious concerns over placing baseless blames upon them in this report, Imtiaz said.
On the issue of inter-marriages of Pral employees, it has been pointed out that out of 1,700 employees serving in Pral all over the country, such kind of relationship of 15-20 employees, ie, one percent of the total strength, is a not a unusual phenomena in our society. Most of the organisations and government departments have witnessed marriages among the government officers of the same organisations.
During the last two years, different FBR chairmen headed Pral's board of directors meetings and took decisions in these meetings, sources maintained. Responding to the employment of two persons in violation of Pral Service Rules, 1998, former CEO Pral said that both the recruitments were made under the directions of Chairman BoD Pral in relaxation of the prescribed conditions
In one case of Muhammad Usman Chief Manager PRAL, he protested before the PRAL management that his name has been defamed and allegations made in the objection report is totally baseless. On the issue of re-hiring, Imtiaz Ahmed Khan responded that in order to retain good employees in the company, all the best possible efforts are made under the rules. The Pral rules allow re-hiring, and in these cases required codal formalities were completed including placement of advertisement and conducting interviews by the selection committee, written reply said. Re-hiring means hiring an existing employee of the company and resignation from current post is a prerequisite to join the new position, Imtiaz Ahmed Khan added.
