The court reserved the judgement of the case and yet not announced the verdict; however, Malik decided to resign from his post.
Malik also faced allegations levelled against him by Ministry of Interior who had accused him of concealing facts, misusing official powers and committing financial irregularities. However, Malik in a letter sent to the secretary interior, had denied the allegations levelled against him. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had also summoned the NADRA chairman on December 31 after initiating an inquiry against him for allegedly hiding personnel information while seeking passport in 2010. Malik appeared before an FIA official and recorded his statement. Sources said the FIA has also requested Ministry of Interior to put Malik's name on exit control list (ECL).
Malik was promoted from Deputy Chairman to Chairman Nadra on July 12, 2012. He served as General Manager Network Directorate Nadra and led Nadra Technologies in his capacity as a CEO. Malik has over 20 years of strategic management experience in implementing high profile citizen centric technology solutions. He is well-known in the project and technology management as a successful CIO, Senior Consultant Information Systems, Trainer and Researcher of Information Technology in Public Sector. Prior to joining NADRA, he worked as Chief, Technology, in the largest country of State of Michigan, USA. He also won the 'CIO of the Year' award. He also won "ID People Award 2011" by ID World EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, Africa) in Abu Dhabi.
