President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday decorated civil and military awards on different Pakistani and foreigners here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on the occasion of Pakistan Day in recognition of gallantry, academic distinction and excellence in different fields.

Special investiture ceremony was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr which was attended by diplomats, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Senate Chairman Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza, services chiefs and a large number of civil and military officials.

Prominent among those who received Nishan-e-Imtiaz include Dr Abdul Sattar Edhi, Saadat Hasan Manto, Mehdi Hasan Khan, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Lieutenant General Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R), Munir Ahmed Khan (late), Muhammad Irfan Burney, Pakistan's ambassador to Washington Shehrbano Sherry Rehman and Dr Asim Hussain.

The President decorated military awards that include: Sitar-e-Jura'at was given to Major Mujahid Ali Shaheed, Sitar-e-Bisalat was given to Major General Muhammad Nawaz Shaheed, Captain Wajih-ul-Hasan, Group Captain Amar Shaheed, Commander Ghulam Dastgeer, Wing Commander Ghazanfar Latif, Major Zia-ul-Haq Shaheed, Major Sikandar Ali Shah Shaheed, Squadaran Leader Chaudhry Muhammad Ishtiaq Shaheed, S L Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Captain Abdul Qadir Khan Shaheed, Captain Abid Naveed Shaheed, Captain Ali Aslam Ranjah, Subedar Munawar Hussain Shaheed, Naib Subedar Noor Wali Khan, Noor Wali Khan, Hawaldar Rasool Buksh, Lance Hawaldar Shuja Khan, Naib Sheraz Zaman Shaheed, Naib Ayaz Ali Shaeed, Lance Naik Ayub Niazi, Lance Naik Liaqat Ali Shaheed, Lance Naik Abdul Qadeer Shaheed, Lance Naik Azhar Ali Shaheed, Sepoy Akhtar Ali Shaheed, Sepoy Zameer Ahmed Shaheed and Sepoy Azmat Ullah Shaheed.

Those who received Hilal-e-Imtiaz included Ambassador Sha Zukkang, Fouzia Wahab, Ansar Burney, Dr Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, Abida Parveen, Shabbir Hasan Khan Josh, Ahmed Chinoy, Anwar Maqsood, Fatima Suraiya Bajia, Masood Khan, Major General Ahmed Bilal (Retd), Major General Ausaf Ali, Ansar Parvez, Zia Mohyeddin, Khalid Abbas Dar, Hamid Mir, Azhar Abbas, Abdul Hafeez Kardar and Fazal Mahmood. Those who received Hailal-e-Quaid-e-Azam included Li Shenglin and Fu Ying, while Sitara-e-Pakistan was received by Dr Rowan Douglas Williams and Sun Weidong.

Sitara-e-Shujaa'at recipients include Maulana Muhammad Hasan Jan Shaheed, Shafique Ahmed Khan and Raja Umer Khattab. Those who received Tamgha-e-Quaid-Azam include Sister Mary Langan and Ms Catherine Wardlaw Nicol. These civil awards were announced on August 14 last year while investiture ceremonies were held here at Aiwan-e-Sadr and four provincial headquarters on the occasion of Pakistan day. President Asif Ali Zardari decorated the awards at the investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr while the provincial governors led the investiture ceremony at the provincial governor's houses.

The Governor Punjab on behalf of President decorated 37 recipients of National Awards (Civil), at the Investiture Ceremony held at Governor's House Punjab, Lahore. The Sindh Governor decorated 27 recipients of National Awards (Civil) on behalf of the President, at the Investiture Ceremony held at Governor's House Sindh, Karachi.

Twelve recipients of National Awards (Civil) were decorated by Governor KP, on behalf of the President, at the Investiture Ceremony held at Governor's House KP, Peshawar. Six recipients of National Awards (Civil) were decorated by Governor Balochistan, on behalf of the President, at the Investiture Ceremony held at Governor's House Balochistan, Quetta. Two recipient of National Awards (Civil) were decorated by Governor Gilgit Baltistan, on behalf of the President, at the Investiture Ceremony held at Governor's House Gilgit Baltistan, Gilgit.
