The funeral prayer of former leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) and prominent religious scholar Maulana Mohammad Ameer alias Maulana Bijli Ghar was offered here on Monday. Amidst tight security arrangements, the funeral held at Qayum Stadium Peshawar was attended by thousands of people including leaders of various political parties. Police personnel were also deployed to guard the funeral procession.

Those who attended the funeral were JUI-F Central Vice Ameer Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, JUI-F central Leader Maulana Atta-ur-Rahman, Ameer JUI-F Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sheikh Amanullah, Maulana Muhammad Qasim, JUI Provincial Information Secretary Abdul Jalil Jan, Chairman Tehreek-e-Isteqlal Rahmat Khan Wardak, JUI-F MPA Mufti Kifayatullah and a large number of his students and companions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Born in Billaki Khail village of Darra Adam Khail in 1927, Maulana Bijlighar was very much popular in the Pakhtun belt for his humorous speeches and religious sermons, which he mostly delivered in various public gatherings and religious seminaries. He remained the prayer leader in the mosque of the Bijlighar local grid station in the Bhanamari area where he also gave religious education to his students.

A close friend of former JUI-F Chief, Maulana Mufti Mahmood, he also served as district Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) for the Peshawar Chapter. He also remained Senior Vice Ameer of JUI-F for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Maulana Mohammad Ameer alias Maulana Bijlighar died on Sunday after protracted illness. He was suffering from stomach ulcer, pneumonia and other multiple diseases. He left behind three sons and three daughters.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Central Leader Jamiat Ulema Islam and Patron-in-Chief Anjuman Quran-o-Sunnat Peshawar, Maulana Muhammad Amir alias Maulana Bijlighar.
