"It is imperative that today's youth be given a platform to hone leadership skills, develop a positive attitude and a critical approach to understand important matters. They should develop linkages through networking which could be of utmost support to lead their communities forward."

Dr Nafisa Shah, MNA Pakistan People's Party and Chairperson NCHD Pakistan, said this as the chief guest at 'Step Towards Change', a daylong conference held for the youth organisations of Sindh. The purpose of the conference was to engage and provide an interactive platform for youth groups/organisations to interact with government officials, educationists and understand what the role of a social leader in Pakistan is.

The conference witnessed the participation of over 100 youth from organisations like Khairpur Youth Organisation, Voice of New Generation, Young Students Welfare Organisation, student bodies from colleges and institutions of Sindh, members of not-for-profit organisations like Sanchal Hamdard Foundation, Right To Play Pakistan Sindh team and media personnel from both print and electronic medium.

The conference saw Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Secretary Youth Affairs, as the key note speaker, who in his address to the youth said "realise your true value and potential which will lead to productive growth. If you waste time and your energy, you will be doing grave injustice to yourselves and your country. You must move forward with time and diversify your thinking as this will be the path to your success."

The event also saw the youth groups from different districts of Sindh speaking on their youth projects on critical issues and discussing lessons learnt with the participants. The engrossing panel discussions were followed by a moving performance by the Indus Theatre Group on youth issues in the country.-PR
