Pakistan defeated arch rivals India 5-4 in the final of the Asian Champions Trophy hockey in a tough contested match played in Doha on Thursday. Pakistan made the first breakthrough against the defending champions when Waqas Sharif, scored goal but India came back just two minutes to equal the score and succeeded in taking a 2-1 lead by the close of the first session play.

The second half proved much eventful as both teams made goals one by one and overall six goals were scored. For Pakistan, Waqas Sharif scored two goals while Mohammad Rashid, Shafqat Rasool and Mohammad Imran netted one goal each in the sensational final.

APP adds: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has congratulated Pakistan's hockey team and the nation for winning the Asian Champion Trophy in Doha on Thursday. The Prime Minister appreciated the game presented by Pakistani players. He also appreciated the management for their efforts. The Prime Minister said that the nation is proud of its national hockey team.
