The Karachi Port handled 136,457 tonnes of cargo comprising 78,882 tonnes of import cargo and 57,575 tonnes of export cargo including 4,041 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 78,882 tonnes comprised 21,220 tonnes of containerised cargo; 26,187 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,083 tonnes of DAP; 21,500 tonnes of coal and 31,475 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 57,575 tonnes comprised 44,714 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,861 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,293 tonnes of rice and 9,568 tonnes of loose bulk cement. As many as 4,041 containers comprising 1,618 containers import and 2,423 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The brakeup of imported containers shows 652 of 20's and 298 of 40's loaded while 370 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,546 of 20's and 329 of 40's loaded containers while 169 of 20's and 25 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are two ships namely Emirates Mombasa and Maliakos with two container ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are two vessels viz Emirates Mombasa and Capri Cement with one container ship and one cement carrier respectively are currently at the berth.

There are two ships namely Capri Cement and Densa Jaguar with one cement carrier and one DAP carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while four ships namely Kota Ganteng, Santa Rufina, Sea Moon and Tan Binh-22 with two containers ships, one coal carrier and one seeds carrier are respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.

There are two vessels viz APL Brisbane and Abtin-1 with two container ships due to arrive on Wednesday, while five vessels viz Cap Verde, APL Guangzhou, Oriental Kerria, Med Nordic and Lodestar Genesis with two container ships, one ethanol tanker, one carbon black carrier and one chemical carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 115,921 tonnes comprising 84,823 tonnes of import cargo and 31,098 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 5,403 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 84,823 tonnes includes 38,848 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,400 tonnes of palm oil; 419 tonnes of wheat; 9,906 tonnes of phosphoric and 28,250 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 31,098 tonnes includes 2,247 tonnes of rice; 812 tonnes of wheat and 28,851 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are three ships namely CV Maersk Montana, CV MSC Namibia and MV Siva Mumbai with containers and chemicals sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours.

A total number of eleven vessels viz CV Maersk Montana, CV MSC Namibia, CV Maersk Kingston, CV Nedlloyed Darke, MV Mire, MV Siva Mumbai, MV Deira, MV Doganbey, MT Argent Fressia, MV Meta, MV Beautiful Rena and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, wheat, furnace oil, palm oil, phosphoric acid and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as three ships namely MT Al-Marzoqah, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Gas Husky with furnace oil, diesel oil and LPG respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz CV CMA CGM Rossini and MT Al-Soor-II with containers and diesel oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
