The National Selection Committee would have no objections if the touring management of Pakistan team decided to retain any player or players for 3-match One-Day International series against arch-rival India. "Its upto the touring management to retain any player for the day series after the Twenty20 series in the interest of the team," Chief Selector Iqbal Qasim said on Wednesday.

He said the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf in is the final authority to take decision on the request of the team management. Pakistan's One-day Captain Misbah-ul-Haq had already indicated that they may consider veteran Shahid Afridi for the 3- match One-day International series which start with opener played in Chennai on December 30 because of his vast experience. After brilliant display by former skipper Shoaib Malik, who powered Pakistan to an exciting five victory over India in the opening T20 International in Bangalore.

Shoaib Malik's knock also putting him in the reckoning to be considered for ODI series. "Malik proved his vast experience in short version of the game with a match winning half century and sharing a century stand with captain Hafeez, " he said. "This is definitely a huge win considering that fact that Pakistan slumped to 12-3. Malik and Hafeez batted remarkably well," he commented.
