About one thousand policemen in the city performed special duty for foolproof security of churches and other public points in the city on the eve of Christmas day. The police officials, equipped with metal detectors, were deputed specially at the Churches to provide complete security to the Christians in the city. Police force was deputed at important buildings, bus and wagon stands and plane clothes men for keeping a vigil in this regard.

All divisional SPs, Supervisory Police Officers, SHOs, Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors were deputed at various sensitive points in the city, while patrolling of mobile squad were also made more efficient and effective. The officials of police emergency 15 remained on high alert in order to take prompt action on the complaints of the citizens. CCPO had asked the people to extend their whole-hearted co-operation for the eradication of terrorism. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) also prepared special traffic plan for ensuring smooth flow of traffic and additional traffic wardens were deputed at important roads and busy areas.
