The most-traded March copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange eased to a three-week low of 56,320 yuan, before recovering to close at 56,740 yuan ($9,100) on Friday. The contract was headed for a drop of 1.7 percent in its biggest weekly decline in nearly two months.
