Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has warned that civil war can break out in the country if the general election is delayed and the forces behind it will be responsible for any untoward incident. He expressed these views while talking to the media persons during his visit to the under-construction Johar Town Sports Complex here on Friday.

The Chief Minister said the forces that did not want progress in the country were trying to flee from the election. He expressed the hope that the general election would be transparent under the supervision of the incumbent Chief Election Commissioner. He was of the view that election was vital for the existence and development of the country and any delay in the same would be disastrous for the country. To a question, Shahbaz said that he had read the news of change of Punjab Governor in the newspapers and he congratulated Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood if he was being appointed as the Governor.
