The Karachi Port handled 116,659 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,815 tonnes of import cargo and 41,844 tonnes of export cargo including 4,651 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 74,815 tonnes comprised 28,288 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,315 tonnes of general cargo; 9,715 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,078 tonnes of soda ash; 7,647 tonnes of DAP and 32,487 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 41,844 tonnes comprised 31,343 tonnes of containerised cargo; 340 tonnes of general cargo; 5,491 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,254 tonnes of cement; 786 tonnes of sugar; 3,431 tonnes of rice; 20 tonnes of flours and 4,670 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,651 containers comprising 2,055 containers import and 2,596 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The brakeup of imported containers shows 783 of 20's and 587 of 40's loaded while 44 of 20's and 27 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 913 of 20's and 414 of 40's loaded containers while 27 of 20's and 414 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are four ships namely Hyundai Highness, Xin Nan Sha, Bhairavi and SFL Hudson with two container ships, one oil tanker and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There are seven vessels viz Kota Gemar, APL Brisbane, Bhairavi, MT Quetta, Angel No 1, Pacific Future and Puma with two container ships, three oil tankers, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. There are four ships namely APL Brisbane, STX Patraikos, Kota Gemar and MT Quetta with three container ships and one oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.

There are four vessels viz Naxihe, Al-Badiyah, Pacific Ace and KOI with One container ship, one HSD oil tanker, one coal carrier and one naphtha tanker respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while three vessels viz Captain Costas, Vietnam Express and Seijin with two container ships and one bus carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 132,217 tonnes comprising 93,489 tonnes of import cargo and 38,728 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,424 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 93,489 tonnes includes 33,889 tonnes of diesel oil; 13,963 tonnes of coal; 3,616 tonnes of chemicals and 42,021 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 38,728 tonnes includes 7,400 tonnes of cement; 1,445 tonnes of wheat and 29,728 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are two ships namely CV Hanjin Sandisgo and MT Overseas Leyte with containers and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely CV CGM Debussy, CV Nedlloyd Hudson and MV Sai Eternity with containers and wheat are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz CV Hanjin Sandisgo, CV CGM Debussy, CV Nedlloyd Hudson, MV Princess-K, MV Sai Eternity, MV Harsanadi, MV Norgas Sonoma, MV Shang Dong Hai Chang and MT Overseas Leyte are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, chemicals, coal and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight ships namely CGM Verdi, Kalamas, Beautiful Rena, Meta, Al-Salam-II, Sea Pioneer, Bhairavi and Gas Husky with containers, furnace oil, rice, wheat, diesel oil, edible oil, chemicals and LPG mix respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

There are five vessels viz CGM Verdi, Meta, Al-Salam-II, Sea Pioneer and Gas Husky with containers, wheat, diesel oil, edible oil and LPG mix are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grains & Fertilizer Terminal (FAP), FOTCO Oil Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Gas Terminal (SSGC) respectively on Wednesday.
