Responding to a query, Foreign Office spokesman Moazzam Ahmad Khan said that the Amnesty International report tends to overlook the human and financial sacrifices of the government and people of Pakistan in the global fight against international terrorism.
"We have lost thousands of soldiers and law enforcement personnel. The loss of civilian lives in terrorist related violence runs into tens of thousands," he pointed out, adding that the contribution of Pakistan's armed forces and law enforcement authorities has been widely recognised by the international community.
The spokesman further said that it was unfortunate that the report did not accord due understanding and support for the tremendous efforts and sacrifices made by the Pakistani security forces in the fight against the menaces of terrorism and extremism.
The Amnesty International recent report titled "The Hands of Cruelty," accused that Pakistan's government of failing to respond to complaints of thousands of human rights abuses in its semiautonomous tribal regions. It further stated people in the tribal areas are being terrorised by Pakistan's military forces as well as the Taliban.
Pakistan Military has already rejected the report and a spokesman of the military on Thursday last described the report as a pack of lies and part of sinister propaganda campaign against Pakistan and its armed forces. "It is a biased report based on fabricated stories twisted to serve an agenda," the ISPR spokesman added.
