Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain has said that the collective mind set of the society had to change in order to provide equal opportunities of the progress to the women. He was addressing a divisional seminar for working women held here at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium on Wednesday, which was jointly arranged by Divisional Administration and Women Development Department.

MNA Begum Khalida Mansur presided over the seminar. A large number of women working in the different public and private departments in Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot districts participated in the seminar. DCO Muhammad Amin Chaudhry Addl District Collector Syed Bilal Haider, Director Information Zahida Ali Dhillon, ACs Shafiullah Khan, Mahr Shafqataullah Mushtaq, EDO CD Asif Tarar, DO Social Welfare Chaudhry Sarfraz, gender specialist Sh Muhammad Ehsan and other officers were also present on the occasion.

The Divisional Commissioner said that there was no legal deficiency for the protection of rights of the women in the country but the relevant law should be enforced for safeguarding the women from torture and other indiscrimination. He emphasised on mobilisation of joint efforts for providing safe and peaceful environment on the work place of women.

Appreciating the Women Empowerment Package announced by CM Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, he said that the women deprivations would be eliminated by these steps and women would play their important role in national development with empowerment and confidence. He informed that government of Punjab was arranging 1200 buses in urban transport sector out of them considerable number of buses would be specified for the students and women for their travel within city.

MNA Begum Khalida Mansur said that the present Punjab govt had introduced policies for the welfare and betterment of the women which had no match in the past. She highlighted the salient features of Women Empowerment Package and said that a provincial committee had been constituted for the help of victim women.
